7 Months

Darling Girl,

Happy 7 Months! You're already over half a year old. Time goes by so fast, but this is my favorite stage so far.

You are almost 14 pounds and 27 inches long. You still wear 6-9 month clothing, but all your pants are getting too short - you are so tall! We are still using cloth diapers during the day, with a size 3 disposable diaper at night and it's working out so well. Your daddy is still the main diaper changer when we're home and he loves the cloth diapers. You are nurse 5-6 times a day when I'm working from home and on the weekends and you take a bottle on the days I am in the office. You are still loving your solid food meals and have tried a few new foods - spinach, beets and pumpkin. You eat two meals a day - one mid morning and one early in the evening - and have figured out how to grab the spoon and put the food in your mouth. Sadly you had your first cold last month and developed 2 ear infections because of it! You handled it so well though - you're a tough girl.

You are still sleeping 11-12 hours a night, get up around 6:30am to nurse, then go right back to sleep for a long morning nap. You are finally starting to take a longer afternoon nap, or at least 2 back to back naps in the afternoon. I was hoping you would grow into that soon enough. We have had to get creative with your pajamas though - you're so active in your sleep that you have accidentally pulled your legs out of the pj's and gotten them stuck in the torso part. We have resorted to putting painter's tape around the outside of your pj legs to keep them in place, or going back to the sleep sack with just a long sleeve bodysuit and socks for your feet. You started sleeping on your side at night in the fetal position, but your favorite is still your hands behind your head with your feet propped up on the crib bumper.

You started sitting up right after your 6 month birthday and can almost pull yourself back up when you lean too far sideways or forward. You've also figured out how to "walk" in the walker - you can go forwards or backwards depending on what you want to see and a few days ago I held your hands as you stood in the kitchen and your little feet knew just what to do! You took a few steps, assisted by me of course, but you did it! Your daddy and I think you'll probably skip crawling and go straight to walking. You also have gotten to the phase of offering us your toys and food, giving us kisses and playing peek a boo on your own. We love to ask you "do you want me to hold you?" because you raise your arms up or out and launch yourself into our arms. You're still a little comedian, trying to get our attention with blowing raspberries, cooing or fake laughing.

Brighton Love, we love you so much. Being your parents has been a great adventure, one that we truly enjoy. It still feels unreal at times, knowing you are ours and we are yours - but we are thankful and in awe of the gift you are. We pray we can be the kind of parents you need as you grow and we promise to honor your life with our every decision. You're the best thing to ever happen to us!

Happy 7 Months our love, our darling girl. We love you!
