In the last few weeks of August, Matt and I started itching for one last hurrah before summer was on its way out. So we found a little condo on the North Carolina shore, asked a few friends to join us, and loaded up the truck with beach chairs, towels and our paddle boards and drove into the sunshine.
It was a glorious weekend with warm, sunny weather, cool water and happy, lazy days. We ate junk food and played in the surf and watched our baby girl toddle across the sand, the wind blowing at her back and a smile on her face.
It was perfect.
So long sweet summer. I already miss you.
