- Matt and I planned to lay laminate floors in our living and dining room - there was cheap carpet on top of (what we thought were damaged) hardwood floors.
- One Saturday afternoon we took a peek and found a jackpot.
- A few weeks later, Matt refinished the floors, we were so excited but then realized we got screwed.
- Also in the middle of all that, Matt moved a doorway entrance and revamped our fireplace. And I painted the ceiling, and then the entire room a new color. Oh and Matt put in all new door and window frames and painted them.
- Then redid the floors again this past week (because we got screwed - seriously, read that post).
So here is the before and after in pictures (warning - it's long!)
Before
Before
Before - the flash really catches how ugly the carpet was!
Night before the first sanding - you can see the paint swatch colors on the walls.
Stain finished, 1st coat of poly on
Second coat of poly - Matt bought high gloss by accident so had to go back and redo it.
After! Or so we thought...
Another shot
Aren't they gorgeous?!
As you can tell, I painted the living room blue. Carolina Blue to be exact.
We have some more things to do in here - hang some pictures, buy a dining room table... but the floors are done!
Tomorrow's post is the fireplace before/after.
Dude, it looks so nice! Sucks that you had to go and do it twice, but it's totally worth it in the end, huh? :) Good job guys!

Those look amazing Kara! Matt is so awesome and hard working! What a guy! You'll love hardwood floors with the baby, I can't count the times I was able to just wipe that baby puke up and not have to worry about carpet stink. Love the color too!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Matt!
