In my Blogger Stats, the  most consistent search words weekly are:

"Tonya Breen"

Yep, my friend Tonya, the one who I told you about here, here and here.

Since so many come to this blog looking for updates, here is another one for you!

It has been one heck of a summer for Tonya! She was diagnosed in May with a Grade 2 brain tumor. After a biopsy, some post-surgery seizures, losing her drivers licenses, being put on anti-seizure meds (along with a whole host of other meds), three different appointments to talk through treatment options (Holistic doctor in Florida, Houston, then Duke Medical ), they finally have some clarity on her tumor and the plan to treat.

Duke Medical has graded her tumor as a 2 (Houston said it was a 3, the doctor in Charlotte said it was a 2). They are going with the wait-and-see method. They believe her tumor is "benign" (growing slowly) and that she might have had the tumor for years! Treatments like chemotherapy and radiation are too aggressive at this stage and could cause some serious damage to her brain.

So for the next few months, she will continue to go to Duke for MRIs to check the progress of her tumor.

"Justine" the tumor
Since she doesn't plan to have aggressive treatment, in the meantime she will continue her healthy eating plan, ensuring that she is liming the toxins and chemicals in her food and the food her family eats as well. It's organic and vegan for the Breens!

Lastly, I am so excited to tell you that the physical and mental side effects she has been feeling all summer are due to the medications she was on, and not her tumor!!! She is slowly weaning her way off the meds and is staring to feel better and better.

It has been a very chaotic summer for Tonya and I have felt such heartache watching my friend struggle. But her joy and faith throughout this process has been so inspiring to watch. We continue to pray for a miracle - for "Justine" the tumor to shrink and for her health to improve.

Tonya we love you and believe in God's goodness for you!

Tonya's neighbor Caitlin, from Healthy Tipping Point, wrote a robust update on Tonya last week. You can read it and see some updated photos here.

  3. None of these were taken by me! The first was sourced (should be a link), the second is obviously an MRI photo, the third was taken by Tonya's friend Eric, and it was credited on the original post. Sorry!!!
