4 Months

Darling Girl,
You are four months old. Time has gone by too fast. It seems only weeks ago that you were a fragile newborn in my arms, your wobbly head resting on my chest. I have loved these four months with you - every moment, even the really hard ones, have been wonderful. You are one of the best things to every happen to us and our love for you is so big it overwhelms me at times!
You are now 26 inches long and almost 13 pounds! You are in the 97th percentile for height, but only the 40th for weight. Your daddy and I cannot figure out where you are getting all this height from since we are both on the average size. You wear all 3-6 month clothing now - everything that was just 3 months is too short for you! You have more clothes than your parents do combined, but with all the spitting up, drooling and random potty accidents, plus your growth spurts, you might end up wearing all of it at one point or another.
This month you rolled over for the first time, from your belly to you back and I actually got to see it! You have only rolled over one time since then. You are more interested in sitting up than rolling over - you don't like to be reclined or on your back for too long, so you are either sitting upright in my lap or in the Bumbo during play time. You have mastered the art of putting everything you can grasp in your mouth - your toys, my hair, your dad's shirt and especially your fingers. You will not take a pacifier, but it seems you might end up being a thumb sucker. You are constantly moving when you're awake - babbling at us or a toy or the dog and cat, smiling at everyone and flailing your arms and legs. You just discovered your feet and are now intent on taking off your socks every chance you get.
You are still a great eater, but you are so distracted during the day that I have had to hold my iPhone close to your face to keep your attention so you'll not just snack during our nursing sessions. You are also sleeping well at night - 7-9 hours at a time - and your naps are getting more consistent. You no longer allow us to rock you to sleep; you now do better if we lay you down awake but tired and fall asleep on your own. When you are asleep in my arms, I treasure it because those times are so few and far between.
We went on two big trips this month and your first airplane ride! We traveled to Arkansas to visit your Auntie Crystal and you did so well (save a diaper leak on the way there). You were very content to be held for 2 hours straight and you fell asleep in my arms both there and back. Everyone who sat around us on the plane commented on what a good and peaceful baby you were! The second trip was a weekend away with my girlfriends in Asheville, NC. You had so much fun and stayed up late each night to hang with the ladies. You loved to be carted around in the Ergo carrier and took a few naps strapped to my chest. You seem to handle change pretty well and I have your daddy to thank for passing along his easy-going personality to you.
Brighton Love, your little personality is starting to shine through and we love it! You are full of joy and your smiles and baby giggles bring so much light to our lives. I can't wait to learn more about you and who God designed you to be. I pray that your father and I continue to be the kind of parents you need - we love you so very much and are so thankful that you are our daughter.
Happy 4 Months my love, our darling girl. We love you!
