Fireplace

As I mentioned yesterday, we went tile shopping this weekend for our fireplace hearth. The fireplace is getting totally revamped by Matt - you can see before pictures here.

Here is another before shot. That tile is bathroom tile that the previous owner glazed black. It's so ugly!

Matt pulled out the tile and old concrete, and leveled it with some new concrete.

And Bella stepped in it while it was still wet!

We looked for tile at a local place called The Tile Shop. It's a huge place with every kind of tile style you can imagine. We only needed three 18 x 18 tiles, and found this beautiful ceramic tile for a great price. However when we went to check out, the cashier could not find it in their system - it was discontinued, so they gave it to us FOR FREE! How great is that?!?!

Matt spent part of Sunday afternoon adding a layer of mortar on top of the concrete, and after that dries, he'll lay the tile, grout, caulk and seal it. 

Then the next house project is the floors - we have to plan ahead as we won't be able to live in the house as the stain and poly dry. I think we'll do it the first weekend in April, but we'll see.

P.S. I know I am not blogging a whole lot about our adoption right now, and it's not intentional. We just don't have any updates... but I promise to include some more adoption / child friendly posts soon.
